The no "weight" Scale

BACKGROUND RESEARCH
Every store, business or restaurant takes inventory as part of their procedure. This requires time, patience, and accuracy. This product can potentially save hundreds of dollars for business orders who miscount inventory or misplace it during counting. It was recorded in 2015 by the IHL that there was $1.1 trillion lost in revenue. This money was lost due to marketing errors, supplier issues, and internal issues. Some companies have computer systems to assist them in counting inventory, or they manually count each item. Businesses such as restaurants get inventory each week for the food that they’ll need. Moshe Ashkenazy, a partner at the company Exist, gave insight on the inventory counting process at the business. At his business, they check inventory every day. Mr. Ashkenazy said that when counting inventory, there is a three to five percent accuracy deviation. “It’s natural for there to be mistakes.” The computer system that the company Exist uses acknowledges that the inventory counted is not accurate; this can be from miscounting, damages, or orders on hold. Moshe Ashkenazy said that every year, the company loses five to seven percent of income because of these errors. If the company made a million dollars that year, they would lose about fifty-thousand dollars. Although it is a low percentage, it is still a large sum of money being lost because of miscounts or misplacements.

There is already a similar counting scale available, the majority of them are small and cannot be used for industrial purposes, or expensive. A counting scale that has a six-thousand-gram capacity, sells for one-hundred-seventy dollars. The No “Weight” Scale will be built out of materials that are less expensive so it is more affordable for sellers. Not only will it be less expensive, but it will alert the owner that the product is well stocked, running low, or needs reordering. The scale will be made from a single point load cell which is highly accurate. Our prototype for the project will cost approximately $50. If produced in large volumes, the cost can be lowered to around $30; the wholesale price will be about $90. Marketing is taken into account; the product has a thirty dollar cost of production, but a ninety dollar wholesale price which includes other costs as well. Because our product strives to be less expensive than the options on the market already, the product will only be wholesale to reduce selling cost, as the retail price would be significantly more expensive. This product can potentially help save time and money. because employees won’t have to manually count inventory. It can also save money because merchandise won’t be misplaced during counting, and can prevent damage of items because it won’t come in contact with anything outside of the container it was shipped in. This product will revolutionize the way businesses count inventory.
